Weirdest thing you ever did?
Everyone who knows me will agree that I am a weird person, and I say or do a lot of weird things, so I have a very long list to choose from. However, the first thing that comes to mind is that I’ve eaten octopus.
Favorite date idea?
On a warm summer evening, have a picnic. We would drink cold lemonade, eat strawberries and other summer fruit, have mini sandwiches with ham, cheese, pickle, and mustard all while the sun is setting on the horizon.
Who’s the most important figure in your life and why?
My grandfather is the most amazing person that I have ever met. He has inspired and influenced me in my life greatly. I want to follow in his career footsteps of becoming a dentist. He showed me that dentists, contrary to many people’s belief, are not scary people, and they do not want to cause anyone pain. Their goal is to put a smile back on your face and help you. That is what I want to do.
He is 83 and full of life and energy. His heart can fit more love than anyone else’s I’ve ever met. Hate is a foreign feeling to him. He is not afraid of anything, and he persevered through so much in his life. I aspire to be like him, and I wish my time with him was unlimited.
What’s the ultimate goal for your blog?
I hope to, one day, write a cook book based on the recipes from my blog. Then, eventually open a my own bakery.
This one is simple. I love chocolate 🙂
Which accomplishment are you most proud of and why?
My biggest achievement was going on a walking pilgrimage to a sanctuary in Poland called Jasna Gora (aka Czestochowa). This is a very common pilgrimage in Poland. A lot of people from all parts of Poland walk there, in the summer, with groups from their parish. People take their prayers or thanks to Mary in Jasna Gora which is a miraculous site. We walked about 186 mi (300 km) for 12 days. I was with a group of about 100 people along with my brother and uncle. We stopped at people’s homes for the night and from sunrise to sunset we walked through forests and fields.
With every step, sweat, and tear I felt like I won’t be able to do it. It takes more of internal strength than physical strength to achieve this. 12 days of walking is daunting, but worth it. I learned that I can achieve anything in the world if I set my mind to it. I told my self that I will not get a ride, not even for a single mile, from the car that followed us with our luggage, and I did it. I walked every single step of the way, and I felt a feeling of achievement like never before. I became stronger after this, and more confident in my abilities.
Favorite vacation and why?
Four years ago, I went on a vacation to Mallorca (an island off the coast of Spain) with my brother and grandparents. I have so many beautiful memories from there. A lot has changed since then, and each summer I want to go back there and live in the absolute bliss that I was in when I was there.
It is such a beautiful and full of character island. The beaches are gorgeous, and the small towns are so charming. Life is completely different there from my daily life. Most definitely the best vacation I have ever been on.
Worst day you can remember and what you learned from it?
This on I had to think about a lot, and I decided that the worst day was my first day when my family and I immigrated. It was the beginning of a new chapter in my life, but also that first year, was the hardest year of my life, so far. That first day, we walked into a disgusting apartment that had “hopelessness” written all over it. I knew zero English (and now here I am writing over a 1000 words in English), everything was foreign in every sense of the word, and I’ve never been more terrified of tomorrow than on that day.
What’s the most important thing in life and why?
Happiness. May seem like an ordinary answer, but I truly believe that. If we are happy, we are better people. We become good to others and to ourselves (something, I think, we all forget to do sometimes). When we are happy, we feel like we can do anything, and we begin to achieve the things that we always wanted to attain. We truly appreciate what we have in our lives, and we live our lives to the fullest while being the best versions of ourselves constantly wanting to become even better.
Do you believe everyone is in control of their life? Why or why not?
Yes, I believe that we are in control of our lives. However, I also believe that there is a purpose we are all put on this Earth for. There are people we are supposed to me, places we are supposed to end up in, passions that we to discover are all meant to happen. On our way to these things, we make our own decisions which is the part where we control our life. These decisions may lead us to our destinations quicker or slower, but by the end of the day we are making these decisions, yet we all end up in the right place and with the perfect people.
Favorite song of all time?
Andrea Bocelli- Time To Say Goodbye
I can never get tired of this song. It is very calming to me, and I like to listen to it when I’m very stress out or nervous about something. It makes the world slow down for a couple of minutes.
P.S. I also imagine my grandfather humming to it in his chair. He has a beautiful singing voice, but he’s a little shy singing out loud.
