Thoughts
Okonomiyaki are Japanese savory pancakes. My mom first discovered them when she tried them at a Japanese friend’s house. The moment she had a bite, she knew she had to get the recipe.
There are many different recipes for them with different additions. I really enjoy seafood, so that is what I make them with. You can add other seafood like scallops.
These are absolutely delicious. They are a unique dinner option that is quick to make. Their flavor is difficult to compare to anything in particular as they are very distinct. You can taste a little bit of the veggies, but the toppings are the main attraction, in my opinion, as they are what gives them their character. These are definitely worth trying! If you enjoy trying foods from different parts of the world, this is something for you.
I would love to travel to Japan one day, but until I save up enough money, I’ll be indulging in the amazing Japanese cuisine 🙂
Enjoy!

Extraordinary; the recipe is more practical than most out there, and your final product must lose the taster in Osaka. Interestingly, one of my first entries covers teppanyaki (grilling method), which is precisely what you recommend. Japanese cuisine stirs the heart every time

These look very tasty. And quite easy too. I’ll definitely try it, but can I replace the shrimp and crabs with chicken? I’m not a big fan of seafood.

I’ve never tried it with chicken, but if you chop the chicken into small pieces and cook it beforehand it should work. Let me know how you like it with chicken 🙂

Delicious looking. I like your substitution of zucchini and potatoes in place of the more traditional cabbage and grated mountain yam. I just leave the yam out because I can’t get it easily here in south-western Ontario grocery stores. 🙂

Very clever, substituting out the traditional cabbage! If you aren’t already doing so, you should use the Japanese mayo (kewpie), which is sweeter and lighter compared to its American counterpart!

Thanks for the suggestion! I’ll try it out next time I make it 🙂
