Chicken Adobo

  • 3 lbs of chicken breast
  • 1 medium onion
  • 4 cloves of garlic
  • 3 Tbs of vinegar
  • 8 Tbs of soy sauce
  • 1 tsp of chili flakes


Cut the meat into strips and set aside.

Chop the onion and saute it on a pan with some oil. Then, add crushed garlic.

Add the meat to the pan.

Pour the vinegar in.

Once the meat is cooked, add the soy sauce and chili flakes. Heat for just a few more minutes.


Adobo is a popular Filipino dish served with steamed rice. I used chicken, but it can be done with pork or beef as well. I also chose to add some steamed veggies to the dinner to make it more nutritious. I first tasted adobo when my boyfriend made it and brought some to share. I asked for the recipe and it sounded rather simple, so I decided to expand my horizons and make it myself.

It is a quick dinner idea that satisfied my entire family. Even my brother, who is a picky eater, decided to get seconds. It is one of those meals that doesn’t require much time, effort, or ingredients, but is certainly enjoyed by all.

  1. Excellent entry! Isn’t adobo wonderfully flavorful? Your recipe is close to my preparations, though I pan-fry bacon and use its fat instead of oil. Great choice of yours, though all your selections so far have been awesome. Can’t wait to see your next article, bringing us all one step closer to your bakery!
