Top it off with some confectioners sugar.

This is a very simple and quick pound cake. It is very soft and delicate. I love making it and taking it for lunch the next day or enjoying it with some tea. This is an ideal recipe for when you need something quick and sweet.

This is a cake that my grandmother used to make a lot when I was growing up in Poland. She got this recipe from a German friend. They met on vacation one year when my grandparents traveled to Germany for the summer some 40 years ago and they’ve been friends ever since visiting each other yearly when they were younger exchanging stories, gossip, and recipes 🙂

The best thing about this recipe, besides the great flavor of course, is the story that it holds. It is another great recipe that is passed down to me from my grandmother. Just a little over 10 years ago I was sitting in the kitchen with here bothering her while she was making it, and now, I make it myself for her, my family, and friends.

Enjoy 🙂
